Global markets started the new week on a positive note.

Global markets started the week on a positive note as optimism grew that trade tensions between the U.S. and China might ease. Conciliatory statements from U.S. officials boosted risk appetite, reducing investors’ inclination to seek safe-haven assets.

U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview last Friday that the planned 100% tariffs on China were “not sustainable.” Trump added, “We’ll be fine with China, but we need to make a fair deal.” He also announced that he would meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the coming weeks, signaling a green light for renewed negotiations.
