Extreme Fear Dominates the Crypto Market — Fear Index Hits Historic Lows

What Is the Fear and Greed Index?

The Fear and Greed Index is a metric used to gauge the overall sentiment of the cryptocurrency market. Calculated primarily using data from major assets such as Bitcoin, the index assigns a value between 0 and 100.

The score is determined based on factors such as volatility, market volume, social media trends, and Bitcoin dominance.

  • Values close to 0 indicate extreme fear,
  • Values close to 100 signal extreme greed.

When the index falls between 0 and 25, it reflects significant fear in the market. In such conditions, investors often believe prices will continue to decline — leading them to sell or liquidate their crypto holdings.

Current Market Situation

The Fear and Greed Index has now dropped to 22–24, one of the lowest levels in recent history.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin is trading between $103,500 and $106,800, reflecting market uncertainty and investor caution amid heightened fear.
